how we began

Like many of us stuck in a Covid-19 lockdown in the middle of 2020, we came to realise that binge watching Friends on Netflix was likely not the best use of our time...

Armed with a few old horseshoes found at Bella's family farm and a welder, we were determined to make something of our weekends and began by making a couple of gifts for our family.

We realised that the products we had created not only evoked memories for our loved ones but were keepsakes that honoured both the horse and the work of our craftsmen farriers.

Together we decided to bring The Farrier's Home to life, and see what else we were able to create in our small rural workshop.

BELLA

With a background in Media, Marketing and Design, Bella's passion for learning new skills and preference for upcycling over recycling inspired her to bring

The Farrier's Home to life.

Bella has been a horse lover from the start, regularly competing in Dressage competitions with her

best friend 'Fame'.

BROCK

From his experience working with tools from a young age, Brock is a talented craftsman and true artisan behind the welder.

The greater the variety of shoes that come into his workshop, the greater his passion for creativity and design evolve.

AN INSIGHT INTO

our upcycling process

Sourcing

The upcycling process begins with the sourcing of material from local Farriers and horse owners who no longer have a use for their horse's shoes.

Shoes are replaced on a horse's hooves every 6 weeks. We are incredibly grateful to those who allow us to collect and re-home their beloved horse's shoes.

Cleaning & Selection

Each shoe that comes into our workshop is individually cleaned and prepared by hand, then carefully selected for each unique piece.

The selection process is a task requiring meticulous attention to detail.

With each shoe being a different shape, size and design, we take our time to ensure we have selected the best shaped shoe for each product.

Production

Once all dirt and rust is removed and the shoes are organised by product type,  the welding process begins. Care is taken to ensure each product is sturdy and strong enough to last for the years to come.

All off-cuts and oddly shaped shoes are used to create one-of-a-kind pieces, with not one shoe going to waste.
